The Children's Aid Society of the Districts of Sudbury and Manitoulin

October is Child Abuse Prevention Month

Every October, Children’s Aid Societies across the province work with boards of education and schools to raise awareness about the rights of children and youth to safety and well-being, and the responsibility of adults and community services to help children and youth who need support. In Ontario Dress Purple Day, we join together to celebrate this community that cares for children and youth. Last year, thousands of students and teachers in schools across the province participated in the day. This year, Ontario Dress Purple Day will take place on Wednesday, October 24, 2018. We deeply appreciate our collaborative relationship, and we are reaching out to ask if you will partner with us this year, and help us engage your schools in this campaign.
Ontario Dress Purple Day offers an important opportunity for schools to remind children and youth to ask for help and that help is available, which have been shown to be important prevention tools. This positive message of help aligns with the Ministry of Education’s Well-being Strategy as well as School Mental Health Assist’s vision of a province where “students are surrounded by caring adults and communities.”
If you are an Educator and would like more information about how we can help facilitate a session in your classroom, please contact the Children’s Aid Society of the Districts of Sudbury and Manitoulin at (705) 566-3113.
