Student Opportunities

We are an agency that is committed to providing students with ‘real life’ job experiences. By working with Universities and Colleges across Ontario we are dedicated to placing students with a variety of our teams at our agency.

Opportunities include placements with the following departments:

FAMILY ASSESSMENT AND PLANNING TEAMS
In order to qualify for a placement with these teams you must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Social work program or completing your Master of Social Work from an accredited University.

ACCESS ASSESSMENT AND PLANNING /VAW SERVICES & FAMILY SUPPORT TEAMS
In order to qualify for a placement with this team you must be currently enrolled in a Child and Youth worker program; Social Services Program; or Developmental Services worker program; Preferably in your last year of the program.

HUMAN RESOURCES
In order to qualify for a placement with this team you must be currently enrolled in a Human Resources Management program from an accredited College.

INFORMATION SYSTEMS
In order to qualify for a placement with this team you must be currently enrolled in an Information and Technology program from an accredited College or University.

ADMINISTRATION
Students applying for a placement with our Administration team must be currently enrolled in a Business Administration or relevant course from an accredited College. Students will have an opportunity to work with our Team Assistants, property assistant, receptionist and property clerk on a variety of teams within the agency; gaining valuable knowledge in all areas of child welfare.

LEGAL TEAM
In order to qualify for a placement with this team you must currently be enrolled in a legal secretary; paralegal or legal clerk program from an accredited institution.

NOTE: You must submit a cover letter and resume to hr.recruitment@casdsm.on.ca highlighting any experience you have working with families. Please include your anticipated start/end dates; your coordinator’s name and contact information; the number of hours you are required to finish; and any preferences you have with regards to a placement team.

Students will be contacted for an interview which will include a verbal interview; written testing; an internal record check and request for the names and contact information of three (3) professional references.

IMPORTANT: Students will be required to submit a Police record check including the vulnerable sector search that must be dated within 30 days of their start date. DO NOT apply for this record check until directed to do so by the HR Recruiter.
