We’re proud to introduce Pathways to Provisions — an internal emergency resource centre organized and operated by a dedicated group of staff at the Children’s Aid Society of the Districts of Sudbury and Manitoulin (CASDSM).

This initiative was created to provide immediate, compassionate support to children, youth, and families connected to our agency when urgent needs arise. Whether it’s a youth living independently, a family facing unexpected hardship, or a kinship caregiver doing their best with limited means, Pathways to Provisions will help meet emergency essential needs with dignity and care.

Pathways to Provisions is not meant to replace the important role of local food banks and community programs. Instead, it works alongside those supports by bridging the gap for service recipients associated with our agency who may face barriers in accessing traditional resources. Families will find culturally inclusive food, baby supplies, hygiene products, and other essentials — all organized with care to reduce barriers and honour cultural identity.

Why Pathways to Provisions Matters

When crisis strikes, families and youth cannot always wait. A sudden illness, an unexpected move, or a child suddenly arriving in a new home are moments that often demand an immediate response.

While local food banks and community programs remain vital, transportation, distance, hours of operation, availability and limited accessibility can be barriers in urgent situations. Pathways to Provisions bridges this gap by ensuring:

  • A youth living on their own can pick up meal items right away when an unexpected expense leaves them without the means to buy food.
  • A family facing a sudden crisis can access essentials without delay when they need support most.
  • A kinship caregiver can obtain supplies immediately when children arrive at their door unexpectedly.
