The Parent Advisory Committee is made up of parent and caregiver volunteers who have navigated CASDSM systems in different capacities, alongside designated CASDSM staff. Committee members share their experiences, perspectives, and feedback to help improve services for children, youth, and families.

The committee provides an opportunity for parents and caregivers to have a voice in shaping the programs, services, policies, and practices that affect children, youth, and families in our communities. Through open discussion and collaboration, members help CASDSM better understand the experiences of families and identify opportunities for improvement.

The Importance of the Parent Advisory Committee

Parents and caregivers bring valuable lived experience and insights that cannot be learned from policies, procedures, or reports alone.
Their feedback helps CASDSM understand what is working well, where barriers may exist, and how services can better meet the needs of children, youth, and families. By listening to the voices of those with firsthand experience, we can continue building services that are responsive, respectful, and family-centred.

What the Committee Does

  • The Parent Advisory Committee provides feedback and advice on topics that may affect children, youth, and families, including:
  • Programs and services
  • Policies and procedures
  • Service delivery practices
  • Family engagement and communication
  • Opportunities to improve the experience of children, youth, and families

Recommendations and feedback from the committee are shared with CASDSM leadership and help inform ongoing improvement efforts across the organization.

Supporting Better Services Together

The Parent Advisory Committee reflects CASDSM’s commitment to hearing and learning from the voices of the families we serve. By working together, committee members and staff help ensure that family perspectives remain part of important conversations and decisions that impact children, youth, and families.
